What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device. “Local storage” is a similar feature of your browser that lets a site save small amounts of data. We use both, and in this policy “cookies” means both unless we say otherwise.

Advertising cookies (Google AdSense)
When ads are switched on, Google and its advertising partners may set or read cookies in your browser to show ads, to limit how often you see the same ad, to measure how ads perform and, unless you opt out, to show ads based on your interests and your earlier visits to this and other websites. These cookies are set by Google and its partners, not by us, and their names and lifetimes are controlled by them. You can learn more in Google’s advertising and privacy information.
Google Fonts
Our pages load typefaces from Google Fonts. This does not set cookies for advertising, but Google receives your IP address and browser details when the fonts are downloaded.
How to control cookies
- Our cookie notice. Choose “Accept all” or “Essential only” when it appears. You can change your mind at any time with . With “Essential only” we ask Google to show non-personalised ads; if the site is set to a stricter mode, ads are not shown until you accept.
- Google Ads Settings. Turn personalised ads off at adssettings.google.com.
- Industry opt-out tools. aboutads.info/choices (worldwide) and youronlinechoices.com (Europe).
- Your browser. You can block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings. If you block the session cookie you will not be able to stay signed in, and clearing local storage removes the scores saved on that device (signed-in students keep a copy in their account).
